New research has shown the average spend on weddings in Britain. Ocean Finance has looked at the median spend of weddings in the UK. Median figures are different to average spends as they adjust themselves to account for very expensive weddings, meaning that the final figure is closer to a true portrait od wedding spending in Britain.
This true average figure for wedding expenditure is £8,000. However, the survey also found that 1 in 10 Britons in the past five years has spent between £19,000 to £30,000 on their big day. 35 to 44-year olds were in the age group most likely to spend more on their wedding.
The research also looked into how couples saved for their wedding, with 52% responding that they paid for their big day with money they had saved up. They were also asked about pre-wedding stress, with the biggest pressure being keeping wedding costs down, which was felt by 37.2% of the respondents. Wedding day fears were also addressed, with the biggest worry at 36.3% of people being bad weather.
